Dr Ynoussa MAIGA hold a PhD in Applied Biological Sciences: Biochemistry and Microbiology from the University of Ouagadougou. He previously worked as a researcher at International Institute for Water and Environmental Engineering (2iE) in Burkina Faso before joining University Ouaga 1 Pr Joseph KI-ZERBO (former University of Ouagadougou) as a Lecturer researcher in microbiology. His research activities cover topics like environmental biotechnology, pathogen fate in water and wastewater treatment systems, and bioremediation of recalcitrant compounds. He previously worked on sunlight inactivation of fecal indicators in wastewater and studied the effect of pond depth on their removal efficiency. I also worked on the development of low-cost greywater treatment units for rural and peri-urban communities. As a former Fulbright Scholar in the US, he worked on cyanide bioremediation through the evaluation of its effect on soil microbial communities and the isolation of environmental strains for biodegradation purposes.
