Position Summary
We seek a full-time research associate to assist with an ongoing training program and related studies regarding the detection of waterborne pathogens. The research associate will work with a team that has been building capacity in Michigan to run qPCR and microbial source tracking (MST) analyses to improve beach management across the state. The selected candidate should have specific experience with qPCR, optimization and development of standard curves, experience with ddPCR, and environmental microbiology is preferable. Responsibilities include providing technical assistance regarding qPCR, microbial source tracking and microbial methods; running training workshops; and partnering with network collaborators on ongoing studies related to the detection and management of waterborne pathogens.

Required Degree
Doctorate -microbiology, with specialization in waterborne pathogens

Minimum Requirements
Proven record of undertaking quantitative PCR work.

Desired Qualifications
Some understanding of water research including collection, processing and analysis of microbes from water samples will be beneficial. Experience with training or teaching advanced students or professionals preferred.
