Protists Team Meeting

The Protists team, along with an author and the editor of Helminths team, met in Paris France, June 28 -29, 2015 at UNESCO.  The overall goal of the meeting was to revisit the protists of fecal origin and create the outline for the GWPP chapters for this section.   The full Protists team can now be found using the Global Water Pathogen Network map. During the meeting, the team was provided with instructions on how to address the outlines of their chapters, guidelines for preparing their summaries, instructions for using the knowledge hub, working with cross cutting theme teams (Persistence, Case Studies, Risk Assessment, Sanitation and Disinfection Technologies), and an overall timeline for their chapter completion. The team will provide content on the topics of specific intestinal protists to parasitology, wastewater treatment , health risks, molecular epidemiology, zoonoses, and immunoparasitology. The chapters for the Protists team includes Balantidium coli, Blastocystis hominis, Cyclospora cayetanensis, Cryptosporidium parvum and spp, Entamoeba  histolytica, Giardia duodenalis, Microsporidia, and Toxoplasma gondii.
 
The team has agreed to have their content submitted by the February 1, 2016.
